Victorian Era Yellow Gold Carnelian Signet Ring (1837–1901)
This antique signet ring, dating to the Victorian period, features a yellow gold setting and a two-layered gemstone panel. The bezel holds a rectangular Carnelian stone with softly rounded corners, topped by a white Onyx layer, creating a distinctive contrast. The top panel measures approximately 15.45 mm in length and 10.64 mm in width.

The ring is a size just above US 6.25 and has a substantial presence with a weight of 4.77 grams. As is common with American-made pieces from this era, the ring is unmarked for gold content. However, both acid and electronic testing confirm the metal content to be between 10k - 14k, depending on the area tested.

Please note: there are pronounced testing marks on the underside of the band, not visible when the ring is worn, along with natural wear at the inner corners—consistent with age and use. A time-earned patina is also present, attributed to the alloy composition of the gold.
