This is a natural wood vintage German nutcracker, designed to resemble a toy soldier. Originating from the Erzgebirge region of Germany, this vintage piece is a traditional form of folk art and is a popular and classic Christmas decoration around the world.
The fully functional nutcracker figure features a movable jaw operated by a lever and is detailed with metal accents, a red leather belt, real hair mustache and hand-painted eyes. Historically, the grim look of the figures was a form of political satire against the authorities. This 14” nutcracker also features moveable arms. It’s in excellent condition and would be a terrific piece for any nutcracker collection or to add to this year’s holiday decor!
