Vintage German figural lidded beer stein, often called a "Friar" or "Monk" stein.
It was manufactured by Reinhold Merkelbach in Germany, likely between 1964 and 1968.
The design features a cheerful monk or friar figure, holding a Bible in one hand and a mug of beer in the other
made of ceramic or stoneware with a hinged pewter lid and rim.
