This is a stunning piece, well made, marcasite and garnet and is both a pendant and/or a brooch. Thie piece was acid tested and does test as silver. It is marked 925 with a maker's mark of "MT". I was able to find the same marking on a maker's mark site and it is listed as "Unknown Artist Taxco 1955 to 1970, but unfortunately I cannot confirm it is the exact same mark.
