Hardback copy of Propaganda Technique in the World War by Harold D. Lasswell, published in 1927 by Alfred A. Knopf. This is the first edition, early Knopf issue, distinguished by the New York imprint on the title page and the Borzoi blindstamp on the rear board. Although issued by Knopf, this printing was manufactured in Great Britain by Mackays Ltd., Chatham, a practice Knopf often used in the 1920s for certain academic titles. This 233-page volume presents Lasswell’s foundational study of World War I propaganda, covering themes such as organization, morale, war guilt, the illusion of victory, demoralization tactics, and the long-term effects of mass messaging. This British-printed Knopf issue is significantly less common than later reprints and remains an important early work in political science and communication theory.
