Made in Ireland, this vase is a beautiful representation of the country's rich cultural heritage.
Belleek has a long history and started as a philanthropic enterprise a business set up by John Caldwell Bloomfield who wished to improve the lives of his tenants and to provide employment to those tenants in the aftermath of the Famine in 1849. He was an amateur mineralogist & geologist and realised that the mud on his newly inherited estate contained feldspar an essential ingredient in the production of the specific type of porcelain called Parian ware. He and 2 partners educated the locals on porcelain and built the factory where the buisness began in 1857.
Today each traditional piece passes through 16 sets of hands from design to finish to ensure perfection!
